Legislation Sought to Ensure Higher Education Techonology is Accessible to Visually Impaired College Students

Disability rights advocates and book publishers are pushing for federal regulations to ensure higher education technology is accessible to tens of thousands of students with visual impairments.

According to  a 2011 AIM Report on the accessibility and inaccessibility of instructional material,  approximately 2.1 million American students have some kind of disability, including about 63,000 with visual impairments. Accessibility Logo Gets New Look for 21st Century

One of the most recognized symbols world-wide  is the handicap symbol, officially called the The International Symbol of Access (ISA). The symbol, which features a stick figure in a wheelchair with a blue-and-white color scheme, has just been given a make-over for the twenty-first century.
